I'LL NEVER LEARN Music and Lyrics by Josephinex Ashley Hansis I never drink and drive, no Just like my mother told me To swig a cold one I pull over To the shoulder of the road And before I sleep I strive, yeah To give the lord my thankies Instead I count my curses And pray I die before I wake Oh, I'd like to file a complaint Yeah, I've got a bellyache And I feel like heaving my grievances I've got misgivings about this whole living thing But as long as I'm alive, I'll never learn not to love My gun is pointing at me And I'm triggered just to pull it Off the shelf, to off myself But when it comes down to it, I probably couldn't Plus I'm not worth the price of a bullet So I spare myself and think of the savings Got mud on my face yet I'm so amazing Cause if you're worthless then you're also priceless If you finish last, then it means you're the nicest So what's the worth of being first in the first place? You get to first base, it's the second-to-worst place One, two, three strikes, you're out – except if you're bowling So ignore the score and just keep on rolling I'd like to file a complaint I've got a bellyache And I feel like heaving my grievances I've got misgivings about this whole living thing But as long as I'm alive, I'll never learn not to love I never drink and drive, no Just like my mother told me To swig a cold one I pull over To the shoulder of the road My stomach is one big ulcer, yeah And my lungs must look repulsive My brain is rotten, my liver is shot But I've still got a pulse and my heart will go on I've been kicking and screaming since the day I was born I get my cardio daily boiling buckets of blood I'm bent out of shape, but I'll never learn not to love I'll never learn, I'll never learn I'll never learn not to love, I'll never learn not to love I'll never learn, I'll never learn I'll never learn not to love, I'll never learn not to love I'll never learn, I'll never learn, I'll never learn not to love I'll never learn not to love For my phone, a charger for my phone Does anyone have a charger for my phone? For my phone, a charger for my phone Does anyone have a charger for my phone?

Sunday afternoon Staring at the moon Some see it half full, I just see it half new Why'd I disappear? And why am I still here? Is a ghost not supposed to be clear? A tree falls in the forest And there’s no one around It's crying and it's screaming And it still doesn't make a sound Minutes pass slowly And the weeks, they fly right by Every day, it ends the same Why, why, why, why, why? I am colorblind I think in black and white No gray matter in my mind I live in extremes Fasting or feasting Never in between I quit every morning And I work hard all day And then I relax And then I relapse But it's not all or nothing Because it's always something And there's always Something missing The minutes pass slowly And the weeks, they fly right by Every day, it ends the same Why, why, why, why, why?

Sometimes it seems the trees are burning And the flooding's no relief It seems the tide is really turning Over a new leaf eternally How many worlds are on the planet Earth? And what's beyond the first? The water always breaks before the birth This mutha looks about to burst Well, you know how they say That even a broken clock is right two times a day It's getting late and I'm getting afraid Not gonna wait till 88:88 When we march our feet are out of step And yet our shoulders are aligned We're not soldiers but we represent A fighting chance to un-rewind Looks like it's all downhill from here on out So let's just make the most We're going under, there's no doubt So sing a song and coast along Well, you know how they say That even a broken clock is right two times a day It's getting late and I'm getting afraid Not gonna wait till 88:88 Well, you know how they say Even a broken clock is right two times a day The more things stay, the more they change the same When you're lookin' at the liquid-crystal display

about

Riding on the momentum of their video for “I'll Never Learn”, released in September along with a concert at the Berghain Kantine, Godmother is back with the Playing the Victim EP. It comprises three songs united by lyrical themes of desolation, depression and getting stuck in your own head – with melodies that will happily get stuck there too.
